Hardwood floors
We had a hard time picking out hardwood floors. I really like the look that we picked out. We tried to match our floors with some dark cabinets but our center island is a lighter color. We wanted to make sure the hardwoods we picked were durable and very hard to scratch. We went with a prefinished real wood walnut floor. This way you can sand the floor down if it gets scratched up real bad. You cant not sand engineered wood so keep that in mind when picking a floor.
I love our floors but one thing I would change if I had to do it all over again is I would install a prefinished hardwood. This way you have no gaps in between boards for dirt to get stuck in. Also if you do a prefinished floor put the flooring together and feel the fit. Our floors tongue and grove was actually thinner on the toenail, then the side. This tends to make the floor squeak a little when stepped on at the front of board. I would make sure you put a good roll of under flooring underneath. Whatever you decide you want your wood to sit in your house for at least two weeks to get accumulated. Its not a bad idea to have the floor guy do a humidity test before laying the floor.
